Wow conus, you certainly have a talent I didn't develop. Never could get anything biological to look right without it being a cartoon. You have good taste in your, erm, subjects too.

Hey Dowly, how did you create the textures on your render of the shells?

Ah, hey Chad.
Those are done by using the preset materials I talked you about. Don't really need much more, iron/brass material with bumps and another material to add a solid color on top of it. Just simple drag and drop. BTW, forgot to mention Modoland channel on Youtube, same guy as the Applesoldier I think I mentioned, so check it out. Lots of tuts there. Anywho, can't wait to see your work, sorry if you've missed me on MSN, don't use it much otherwise than on weekends. |

No problem, I haven't been on MSN either. Can't wait to see what you're working on though

Well what I started working on was the interior of the King Tiger, but I'm deciding it on the fly. Lots of little things that I need to model, so I'm just going one piece at a time, taking the kit modellers approach. Just need to make the basic layout of the interior to start adding my finished stuff to.

Very nice aj.
I looked at Daz3d but decided against it last minute due to high poly counts, and use my models more for real-time apps. How long does it take you to render a scene like that? |

Thanks. That one took around 1 hr mainly due to the reflections on the car.

Well, I've finished up a tutorial and think I have a good grasp of Modo.
I want to try to test my hand at modeling something new without help, any recommendations as to what I should try to model? |

Look around the house, plenty of simple stuff to model. I modeled my PC table as my first practice job. Was simple enough, yet still had few things that I had to think abit.
Or just pick an subject and start modelling different parts of it, don't aim to model the whole thing, just part at a time. |

All this banter about 3d Models has inspired me. So I'd like to present to you, my first ever 3d model. A pen! Made in 3ds Max.
Not very exciting I know, but it was actually quite a lot easier than I thought it would be, really chuffed with it I'm now working on a Steampunk Airship so I'll post some pics of that soon.

Nice first model! Better than my first one.
Here's a Mauser I worked up in about an hour, wanted to try out some weapon modeling, something I haven't done in awhile. |
