By the way, maybe a bit off-topic question, but still what is the effective detonation depth of Depth Charges in GWX?
I ask because there were numerous times, when my U-Boat was hit in shallow waters of Celtic Sea,other places in British approaches and even at depthes slightly bigger than 100 metres - about 120 meters or so. So,where is safe depth starting? ![]() |

There is no safe depth....quite simply because your boat can't dive deep enough

Just get as deep as you can and hope they can't find you with asdics. I've been at 150m deep before at 1kt silent speed and, even though I wasn't being pinged, I was sunk by chance by depthcharges from a lucky drop by a destroyer.
As for aircraft, I've never even thought about trying to fight them. I've shot down the ones in the academy, but tried for real. However, if you are going to try to shoot them down, make sure you lead the aircraft - shooting ahead of it rather than where it is at any given point in time - if you want a chance of hitting it. |

The deeper you go the pressure will reduce the effective kill radius of a depth charge. I think this is programmed into SH-3.
