I think this is a great idea. I hate being at the top of that chalkboard all the time. Now if only there was a way to mod JANAC taking away half of your tonnage each patrol, then we would be a little closer to knowing how some of these skippers felt after risking boat & crew sinking enemy ships, only to receive credit for 1/2 a kill. In fact, when the dust settled, JANAC (based on questionable or non existent Japanese shipping records) cut the total war tonnage in half.
