About the fps hit, I have used Fraps to check. Usually in any game the hit is about 35-40% loss. In one of the academy missions (can't recall which, convoy attack I guess):

Stereo OFF:

Stereo ON:

Stereo OFF:

Stereo ON:

Sea screen: ((47-31)/47)*100=34%

U-boat: ((50-39)/50)*100=22%

I don't know how will be with stormy sea + action, but usually the % loss do not change depending on difficulty to render (the fps absolute numbers will change, not % though)

I forgot to say that in order to get SH3 in stereo, the 'Synchronize video' (or similar, I don't remember) in the ingame video options must be checked. In general for stereo to work V-sync must be on.

Another recommendation, when using shutter glasses keep your refresh rate as high as possible. The glasses are alternatively blocking/allowing light to pass to the correct eye, so the refresh rate that arrives to each eye is half of the monitor. Nevertheless, as a black frame is inserted (light block) between frames, it seems that it does not fatigue as a simple low refresh rate do...

Tx, I have tested it now and I get the same fps that with fraps, + - 1 frame. So I guess it is correct.

Well, actually for the moment it is not a mod, if you plan to use it looking like the images posted. You could use it, for example, with the configuration of the low convergence images, which is quite playable.

The problem which is still unsolved is when we want more deep feeling. In this case we find the problem that all the OSD 's (menus) are placed at abad z-index, thus suffering the same process than the 3d world when adjusting depth effect. Is for this that I would need a mod of the menus that would change their z plane on screen. I have been looking into the menus cfgs files but still I can't see what I'm looking for.

Some modder advice/help would be very appreciated.

Wow, it's fantastic! Thanks for informing us about this Darkbluesky!

I tried it, but it didn't work on my computer, i guess my graphic card (GeForce FX5200) is "not enough" for this, when i just try to sart any game (not only SHIII but any other game) my PC restarts. np, i hope it will be ok when i will have a new graphics card.

Glad you like it, Morgan.

Nevertheless, at side that your card would be or not "enough", it sound to me like a problem of drivers. If you had installed a different version, and now you have installed another version (to match the stereo driver number), you "must" (at least) use drrver cleaner pro to clean previous drivers (uninstall current nvidia drivers, restart in safe mode, run driver cleaner pro, restart in normal mode, install normal nvidia drivers, restart, install stereo ones).

Personally, when I install new nvidia drivers, sometimes, I even format HD and reinstall OS, drivers, etc (I have dual boot system, so reinstalling gaming partition is not a so awful work )

Ahh, looks good and brings back memories when I used to have a Gforce 5200 that came with the shutter glasses. That was always a problem with the game interface in a lot of other games too. At least you can always hide the hud in SHIII.
Another reason I wish you could play the game only in the 3d atmosphere.
I suppose a combination with a voice program like shoot, you might be able to do more without having to bring up the hud, which btw I wish you had hidden in a few of your screenshots.

Yes, except for the periscope screens which are somewhat messed up if you use a high convergence. First tried to change z-index of these planes, seems nobody knows anything about this. Now I think on contact developers...

Also see the z800 at 3dvisor.com

It's actually two separate LED screens, one for each eye.

I'll definitely be getting a "z1280" if they ever make one.
