to my fellow type 9 kaluens is it just me or do most of our subs(the ones we dont loose to convoy escorts or task force escorts) meet an untimely end on the coast of America? where BdU in its infinite wisdom puts us in shallow waters to patrol.

I like to take my IXC to areas around Port of Spain , or Curacao where targets can be found and deep waters to hide. At the end , I barely make it out alive from there. |

I love east coast patrols! Juicy targets, little ASW (For a while anyways).
I love the "Miami straights". The 'channel' between the Bahamas and Miami. Deep and narrow, but not narrow enough to get penned in, but narrow enough to funnel all the shipping lanes through there. I'll make it a solid 6-8 week patrol. 2 weeks there, 2-4 on station, 2 weeks back. |

As I'm heading to Cape Hatteras in a IXb (Jan 1942) that's good to know. I thought that might be the case, so I used SH3 Commander and chose a grid nearby in deep water before the patrol.
