Hmmm, this is not going to end well... This will not help with landing...thankfully the engine decided to rob me of the opportunity to spread flaming wreckage across the carrier by running out of fuel. Hunter experiences Air Rage as he gets cut up by an AI Hunter lands, while an AI bears in on him... Hunter accidentally hits the 'detach aircraft' button HOOONK HOOOOOONK!! Task Forces discovers the catapult F4F vs Aircraft carrier...carrier wins, who saw that coming? |

Mental note: Don't park too close to Hunter... Mental note: Ouch... Task Force redecorates... Hunter almost visits the invisible trees... Last edited by Oberon; 01-21-11 at 06:11 PM. |

Got one, and boy was the F4F more twitchy than I remembered...must have been getting too used to the SBD.

Two missions covering the 9th and 10th of Jan 1941 done so far. The 10th is a tricky one, as Raptor will no doubt remember, Operation Excess, the convoy to Malta where Illustrious met some Stukas and came off a bit worse for wear.
Now, I've done a rather prototypical mission with a nice convoy size, two cruisers, two battleships, Lusty and about four destroyers with about 19 Stukas and eight SM79s (who I've just found out led an attack on the merchants of Excess whilst the Stukas went after Lusty). Basically, the whole thing turns into a lagfest, which comes as no surprise when Lusty, two BBs, two CAs and four DDs open up in unison. I dare say Task Force, Raptor and Hunter will have no problems playing this, well, basically anyone who isn't me will be able to play it just fine most likely...but, I've had to make a 'Lite' version with less units, hopefully it will reduce lag. Anyway, I hope to continue with the Filthy Few for a bit longer so we can build up a backlog of missions to prevent mission creation lag. |

From what I remember, the attack was headed by two torpedo-carrying SM.79s which drew away the initial air cover, after which some 43 Stukas attacked the convoy and severely damaged Illustrious. Don't recall more SM.79s attacking the convoy, but it could be I missed it.
IIRC my old Operation Excess mission had pretty much the whole thing as I understood it, including 2 SM.79s, 43 Stukas, the Allied air cover, escorts and most of the convoy. I wonder how your computer handled that...

I'm not sure how it did either. What map did you use?

The Italy Africa Greece map, the same I used for all the missions in our brief Med carrier campaign.
I think the Central Mediterranean map is probably the best one for this campaign though.
