The video tutorials and the manual combined teach you a good deal.

There's also the Community Manual.
Yeah but we are lazy and are not affraid to admit it!

What does the big red button actually do? I pressed it and requested a targeting solution to an enemy ship. I fired, and the ship exploded. Why? I didn't think Bernard was an explosive. It was just a greeting. Then I got attacked by a destroyer and I had to surrender. It was only intended to be a greeting! It's not fair!!!

The funny part (for me) was that prior to this "discovery", I had complained to my wife that the game interface really was a PITA, as there wasn't any way to specify a speed, adjust the rudder, or set a depth deeper than 25 meters. I used to just press the "D" key (for dive) and press the "A" key to maintain the depth I wanted.

Um...have a look at the keyboard map that comes with the game. It lists all the keys, all the shift + keys, all the control + keys etc.

Unless you were joking, then I'm .

I have the keyboard map in front of me. It doesn't list all of the keyboard options. The manual is also lacking various details.

Attn: Sailor Steve

Some examples of deficits on the keyboard map (from the Community Manual):

Shift + F2 = Internal Free Camera

Control + F8 = Show Frame Rate

- (Event Camera) = View your boat from enemy's position

Control + Left Click = Center View on Navigation Map

Control + F11 = Screenshot

Shift + F11 = Continuous Screenshots

Numberpad . (Delete) = Hide game interface

Control + Numberpad . (Delete) = Remove orange marker on ocean surface when submerged

Better to use fraps, then you can assign buttons yourself.

I'm a bit worried by the guy in my control room....

Every time I order something he repeats it - wish he'd say something for himself. All he seems to do is look over the shoulders of people actually doing something useful, or tell me readings on dials I can see myself.

Worst of all, he gets romantic when we dive.....keeps telling me we're approaching "crush" depth....yikes!!

maybe so, but his face expresion is like ''Crush depth? Who cares''
I could slap him in the face for that and say ''Be a virgin school girl and panic!!!''
on the other hand I dont want that he is going to scream ''O MY GOD CRUSH DEPTH WE ARE GOING TO DIE!!! AAAAAAAAAAH!!!! ABANDON SHIP!'' and pulls out a gun and shoots himself. not that I care that he is dead but the officers are getting exspensive you know...well at the rate that I,m at

Then I guess I am

My excuse? I haven't been able to look at the game or any of its components for almost five months now; I was going on memory.
