Leaving the game open with a current patrol paused because it was bed time (well way past bed time actually haha). Was half way through a nail biting and exciting engagement in my current career as a Type 1936A Zerstorer skipper.
Get up this morning and windows had updated and restarted my computer. |

Or we just save on a regular basis. I usually end up with 20-30 saves per patrol, and wherever I can load one, it's usually not too far from the beginning of whatever cool thing I was doing when it CTD'd.

Yeah, that's annoying as hell. It didn't restart, but it minimized SH3 every five minutes telling me to restart.

Heavy seas. Granville Freighter. 1 eel left.
Perfect solution. 400m distance. 90 degree AOB. Depth set to 2.5 meters, running for impact under the fore mast, to ensure the boat and eel don't miss each other due to the swell. Watching the eel hit the ship on the downswell, and looking at a brilliant looking hole in the freighters side ABOVE the waterline. Mast and cargo blown to smithereens. Watching that ship sail merrily away without even a reduction in speed. ****! ****! ****!

With no eels, and the flak gun unusable due to the sea state, I'm unsure what else I could have done.
Ramming? Piracy? A strongly worded letter of protest?

Don't you just love it when BdU gives you orders to patrol a grid right at the mouth of the English Channel?

My most recent Ahhh **** moment:
After a week of storms weather finally calms down. Several hours later I have a contact report which, after intercepting it, turns out to be a T3 tanker. I went down to PD close to its predicted path, waited a bit and surfaced just as the target was passing by. Then... "Man the deck gun!" "We can't, the sea is too rough" "Wha... navigator, wind speed?" "8 m/s" |

The weather can really suck, duds are annoying and always happen when you least want em to.
Just had a quality 'oh S$$t' encounter. I decided to have fun with the Warship Mod and design a single mission... Bismark Vs 3 BB a few cruisers and plenty of DD. Imagine my surprise when I try it out and two groups have spawned. Couldn't think of a good plan so headed straight for them and went out all guns blazing. Next time i will script Nelsons, I have sank them with a 105mm before |
