that, and theres this book that is written by a man named John Hagee. Its called Jerusalem Countdown, and it was written before all of this stuff in the Israel/Lebanon stuff started happening. He predicted EVERYTHING that has happened so far there, and the thing that made me say the above comment was this: He predicts that Russia will side with Lebanon against the Israelies. I think its more than coinsidence that 550 russian troops have arrived in Lebanon recently......

550 Troops is a joke. Token force without any force. Now if 55,000 show up, you know something is amiss!

Or less than there is....the wind blows either way. Not that any direction it's going is a good one.

These "troops" are mostly engineers, not fighting troops. But all you need to do is to review Russia history of sending military consultants somewhere to surmise which direction the wind is blowing. In addition, Russia has sneared and snickered at Israeli official's complaints of sophisticated weapons reaching Hizballah terrorists and others, putting on a thinly vieled mask of denial.

Russia is repeating the same mistake they made in 1939, when they signed a pact with the devil. It will not save them this time, either.

I dunno about the IDF but in most countries the difference between the two is not as great as your statement implies. In any case what they are calling them may not have anything to do with their true purpose

No disagreement but their work is mostly in reconstructing strategic structures, such as bridges, etc.

Of course, there will be more coming in the future and their tasks will expand to other military related tasks, which don't involve the Russians themselves to use any guns.
