http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/poli...-Internet.html There's also a deep skepticism about the SNP's policies in that age group as well. http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/24140752 However, even if the SNP lose the vote, which is extremely likely, I can't really see Scottish Labour getting back in at the next election for the Scottish Parliament. It's current leader, Johann Lamont can only be decribed as a complete pleb. This article's a diatribe, but if you get past the guff it sums up Lamont perfectly: http://www.newsnetscotland.com/index...tish-sentiment She's a non-entity who's no match for Salmond and the same goes for the leaders of the other parties. They just don't have the experience or political nuance to ride herd on him. ![]() I personally think that devolution in the UK is one sided. Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland all have their own legislative assemblies. What does England have? Nothing of it's own - it has to share Westminster with the other three. This means that non-English MP's can vote on English affairs that the English MP's can't vote on in the other three countries - healthcare, schools etc. Labour is arguably the worst offender as it has a substantial number of non-English MP's. ![]() What this country needs is proper devolution for all and that means an English Parliament for English affairs. ![]() Devolution is working for Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland. It's about time England had it as well. ![]() What say the English? Mike.

I just wonder how long it will take for a future independent Scotland to find itself in a similar situation, with the islands and highlands complaining Holyrood is all about Edinburgh and Glasgow, and demanding its own parliament.

In 1989 Denmark had a referendum, where the Danish people were asked if Denmark should be a part of the Eu internal market. The Danish people voted no.
Somehow the Danish Parliament couldn't respect this, so they negotiated a new deal with EU. Denmark got 4 reservations. In 1993 Denmark had a new referendum about the same, but this time, without this four reservations The Danish people voted yes this time(guessed it was 53 % that said yes) There was a hardcore groups of anti-EU people in Denmark, they couldn't take this "yes" so they went on the street and started to destroy things This demonstration evolved into pure street fighting between the protesters and the police. For the first time since the second world war, The Danish police, was forced to draw weapons and shoot at civilians in order to protect the victim and themselves. Why I wrote this? I hope that it will not go so far in Scotland, if it will be a yes or a no Markus |
