I finally got a copy of Warburton's War from the Library albeit no pictures in this copy.
Wel very interesting read but my plans for doing an IL-2 movie about it will have to change. To do one just about Warby wouldn't do justice to all the guys of 431 flight (later 69 squadron). I'm still working on a screenplay of sorts which I think I will split into the different pahses of his career by aircraft type. Some of the scenes I will need some online flying help as I can't trust the AI not to not blow me out the sky. Also I am trying to track down photographs online of the 431 flight (69 Squadron) PRU as I will be making or having someone make me custom skins with the right numbers on them. Anyone who wants to hlp let me know. Cheers Last edited by XabbaRus; 11-11-07 at 07:20 AM. |

Count me in if you need help with the skins! Just supply me with drawings/photos.
![]() The usual camo for the PRU units was either light blue or light brown. From what I've seen, the l.blue was used quite alot as it made the plane blend better to the sky. ![]() This is the tale of the Gremlins As told by the PRU At Benson and Wick and St Eval- And believe me, you slobs, it's true. When you're seven miles up in the heavens, (That's a hell of a lonely spot) And it's fifty degrees below zero, Which isn't exactly hot. When you're frozen blue like your Spitfire, And your scared a Mosquito pink. When you're thousands of miles from nowhere, And there's nothing below but the drink. It's then that you'll see the Gremlins, Green and gamboge and gold, Male and female and neuter, Gremlins both young and old. It's no good trying to dodge them, The lessons you learnt on the Link Won't help you evade a Gremlin, Though you boost and you dive and you jink. White ones will wiggle your wing tips, Male ones will muddle your maps, Green ones will guzzle your glycol, Females will flutter your flaps. Pink ones will perch on your perspex, And dance pirouettes on your prop, There's a spherical middle-aged Gremlin, Who'll spin on your stick like a top. They'll freeze up your camera shutters, They'll bite through your aileron wires, They'll bend and they'll break and they'll batter, They'll insert toasting forks into your tyres. And that is the tale of the Gremlins, As told by the PRU, (P)retty (R)uddy (U)nlikely to many, But a fact, none the less, to the few. "Gremlin" is an elf-like creature that was the reason for all the bad that happened, engine problems and such were blamed on the "Gremlins". Sort like we have Bernard. ![]() Last edited by Dowly; 11-11-07 at 10:23 AM. |

It seems that the Malta PRUs had desert camo.

If you can tell me the serial number of the aircraft you are interested in, I can probably tell you what it was exactly, including equipment fitted. In the meantime, these might help:

Dowly if I can get hold of what the PRUs Warby was part of had their aircraft painted would you be able to do some custom skins?
Also I am going to have to use the A-20 in place of the Maryland. Also the PRu Beau will need a skin with camera ports painted on. |

OK Chock
I'm reading the book straight through at the moment and then re read taking notes of events and aircraft. I'm also going to rewrite the wikipedia article as from what I have read compared to the book it is mostly wrong. |

Wikipedia? Wrong!? Surely not:rotfl:
It's well known that people deliberately put crap on there for a laugh. When you write your bit, put that the Spitfire was powered by a Rolls Royce RB211 jet engine and see how long it stays on there. ![]()

I found this about Warburton. He may have been flying a P38.Most of his PR work in Malta was in a Maryland.
