I disagree, its no more clever than switching the price tags in a store where there is no inventory control system with barcodes. All he had was the technology and knowledge to use it and a lack of morals.

Why not buy a far more expensive item like a large TV and put a lower priced bar code on that? He would have made a much better profit selling those on ebay.

I am sure that he was also stupid enough to use his bank or credit card leaving a trail behind the stores noticed that the same person was buying items for an incorrect price and started watching him(a store based error would have occurred on the same item several times) more closely on the cameras they can find you easy just find the cam of you at the register at the time of your transaction and they have you. Some times they also let you get away with small fry stuff so that you keep stealing and they can build a case against you and allow you to steal enough to get charged with a felony and you know they will gladly press charges.

If the cops get his Millenium Falcon set I call dibs on it. That set isn't cheap no matter where in the world you look for it.

Why would he sell them, I mean LEGO! Who here wouldn't just rip open every box and spend several months building stuff?

I agree, same as lifting the old price stickers. Not that I would have ever done that when I was a kid. I read about other kids doing that.

Good point, but look on the bright side, he now knows right from wrong...he was wrong to keep going to the same store and will get it right next time.

Of course if you do something wrong you should make sure you don't get caught. At least that way you are doing something right.
