Comanche Gold and Windows 7 (Seven)

Hello;

I’m having trouble installing Comanche Gold onto my system running Windows 7 (32 bit). The game installs fine but when I try to run it I get an immediate crash and the message “Wc3.exe has stopped working”.

I have tried installing and playing under every combination in the compatibility mode (including all versions of Windows, and checking and unchecking various options like 256 colors and desktop themes etc with no luck. I even tried to set the game installer to various Windows versions under compatibility mode so that it would install under a previous version but nothing seems to work.

I have seen several posts from folks having similar issues, and was wondering if anyone has managed to install the game and get it running properly in Windows 7. The game ran perfectly fine under Windows XP for me, and I find it obscene that Microsoft advertised Win7 as running anything that ran on XP and Vista.

Any help would be much appreciated, as Comanche Gold is a lovely game and I would like to play it under my newer system.
