Default Locked external view?

I'm sorry for posting a thread asking about this, but I can't find it anywhere...

Haven't played SH3 for a while, but I'm 99% certain it was possible to lock the camera in external view, meaning the camera followed in a fixed position relative to the boat, and you could rotate etc. Not the normal F12 external view where the camera stands still.

Or do I mix this with SH2?

Just installed SH3 fresh with patch 1.4b, SH3 Commander and the Grey Wolves mod (awesome stuff!).

Thanks.

You have 1.4b. Good, it only works with that. Hit the ',' and '.' keys.

A warning, though - the </> views' centre points often gets corrupted until the game's reloaded. Typically, you'll find yourself looking at the stern of your boat and any other ships.

Very annoying - I wish there were some way of resetting the view.

Yes, and it also gets corrupted if you're in certain harbours. Not sure what triggers it, but it may be mines. I have it right now, in Scapa Flow (GW mod).

It only gets corrupted when you view the ship in the moment of the lethal hit, no matter if you're in free camera mode or in the ship camera mode.

No it can happen at any time, at least for me anyway. It's something I was always meaning to post about but now I know I'm not alone and it's a bug. I always hold my breath now when I press "," or ".". I love the locked external view and this just ruins it

I've also had the weird harbour effect in Scapa Flow. I had put it down to the terrain mod I'd installed which put in the eastern entrances, but maybe this is a stock bug as well.
