Default SH3 Commander problem.

To whom it may concern,

Just had my first patrol with this mod, it went well, IIA 1939, went to scapa flow, sunk 2 ships, a coastal merchant and a C2.

I returned to base and had been awarded 15!!!!!! war badges, i went and checked the crew manager in the sh3 commander and it recomended everyone get a Iron Cross because they performed so well and it promoted one of my officers to the highest rank and asked me to release him ( I said no because its too early)

Now when i go to start my second patrol i get a crash to desktop .

Did i do something wrong?

This campaign was started from SH3 commander with the generate crew thingy on... i noticed at the start of my first patrol my crew appeared to be random, officers with no qualifications, one with repair... none of them had helmsman, the watch officer had watch though.

Any ideas?

Can't explain your CTD, but just a point of clarification, SH3 Commander does not auto-promote any crew members. If you have an existing Leutnant or Oberleutnant whose experience is greater than 500 and who has an EK2, it is suggested that you replace them so that they can forge their own career as a Commander. You don't have to though (hence why you are asked).

When you awarded the EK2, one of your officers would have met this criteria.

15 badges is about correct (I got 24 after my last patrol). Badges tended to be awarded to all crewmen after the second patrol. I believe Beery adjusted the renown figure so that SH3 would realistically award more badges earlier on.

Apart from the names, your crew were not random. The crew in SH3 Commander and RUb more closely resembles the crew setup of a real U-Boat.

If it helps; when I started a career using SH3Cmdr in a Type VIIb I had one Oberlleutnant with 500 experience and only one skill. 500 experience is the max level for that particular officer so he was des for transfer/ promotion upon retunr from any patrol.
Personal preference is such that I spent renown on a less experienced and more qualified officer from the barracks.
