Questions About SH5, Steam and Difficulty
Hi folks,
I've been playing Silent Hunter 4 with TMO (with Training Wheels, because time is limited) for the past month and have been enjoying it a lot, but I recently got interested in playing Silent Hunter 5 and have a few questions about it. I'm interested in getting the Steam version (Boxed copies are hard to come by and/or ship to where I'm from) and was planning to mod it with TWOS since that seems to be the mod that fixes a lot of the problems I've heard about that game when it launched nearly a decade ago as well as some additions to gameplay. Is the Steam version as easily moddable as Silent Hunter 4 was? And as for the difficulty, I ran the Training Wheels version of TMO since it was appropriate for the limited time I had while also having quality of life improvements that stock were not present in SH4. Does TWOS also have the same level of difficulty options? Can I gradually scale the difficulty in TWOS as I go along? Thanks all! |

Welcome NA
Yes Steam version is fully compatible with TWOS and other mods. Yes difficulty level is adjustable, and you will find more life than in TMO in my opinion. I had fun with TMO with training wheels, but TWOS is at an other level to me. Happy hunting!

Thanks THEBERBSTER. I figured out the mod locations and how to get around TWoS but your tutorials have been super helpful in getting the game up and running.
I have one last question before I set sail and figure out the rest on my own, but when a contact shows up on the map, is there really no more info on its approximate heading and speed like in Silent Hunter 4? (I have turned off 'No Map Contact Update' in Gameplay Settings and turned off Real Navigation in JGSME) |
