Default New Keleun reporting for duty

Hello everyone, I thought I would stop in and say thank you. I have been playing simulations mostly space and flight but I started with a subsim titled silent service years ago as a young teenager. I bought SHIII when it first came out but never got into it until recently being laid off from work and finding this amazing web group. I am playing SHIII patched to 1.4b with the GWxgold supermod and SH3commander. Are there any other sights to look into for some tutorials or other mods I may be interested in due to the fact that I was US Army instead of Navy so targeting is really whooping my butt at the moment. Thank you again for the help in advance.

Runt31.......Play with auto-targeting until you feel comfortable with the concept of finding and setting up for your shots ....There's many sites that will teach you manual targeting and then the real fun begins..Welcome aboard.........Can't think of another site than Subsim to get you where you want to go............

Thanks guys I have lifeboats and debris but I don't ever see any life boats in the water I see a few wooden crates and once I saw a LB fly off of a ship I hit with a torp is that o e working right. I also have renown replacement but I know that one doesn't work spy sats deck gun range and fuel milage mods not sure if they are working either. Another question I have is SHIV worth buying I would like to see the American subs of this era at least on computer cause I have actually been in a Russian sub that was on display in Puget Sound in Seattle and BB-61 USS Iowa (my uncle was a PO2 on that ship and too me on tour when I went to visit). I can't download anything else until I go into the little town I live in with my laptop cause I live in BFE Kentucky and use an iPhone for communication with the outside world. I also am fascinated with Enigma I have the download and the code book that works well. I would love to see this incorporated somehow I have read wazzu's charting tutorial but I guess I am just thick cause it isn't sinking in.

Wellcome to subsim runt

If you have been in the Army you are actually much closer to the concept of targetting than any other guy who has been nowehere!

If you have received some basic formation in shooting -and I know you will have in your military instruction period- you are already familiar with teh concepts of lead shooting, estimating range and such. That's the basics of torpedo shooting, which is not much else that gun firing with a much slower and powerful bullet.

Welcome Kaleun!

I agree with sunvalleyslim, "play with auto-targeting until you feel comfortable ...", however, I would suggest to enable manual targeting and with the help of your weapon officer.

These two mods have sub-folders ('scuse the pun) so if you've just placed the mod into JSGME they probably won'y work as you need to extract the sub-folders.

Open your SilenterHunterIII folder (should be C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII) and see if there is a folder in here called WB's Deck Gun Range. If so, it's set up wrong and you'll need to look at the Readme again or PM and I'll sort you out.

Quite right; I have four installs of SH3, and four installs of SH4.
Ho-ray for large hard drives.
