Default Your personal "Favorite Five" Sci-Fi movies.

Skybird's post about Ridley Scott doing the movie adaptation of Joe Haldeman's "Forever War" got me thinking about my Favorite Five Sci-Fi movies. I'm curious to see what other folks like. Here are my Favorite Five picks:

1. 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
2. Silent Running (1972)
3. Fantastic Voyage (1966)
4. The War of the Worlds (1953)
5. The Day the Earth Stood Still. (1951)

BTW, Roland Emmerich is doing a remake of Fastastic Voyage due out in 2010.

Aye T2 was one of the exeptions to the rule that the sequel is worse than the original. Great SFX.

I must be the only one who hated T2. I thought the original had a great closed-loop story, which needed no sequel, and the sequel threw the concept out the window.

But then my favorite sci-fi list would probably get me labelled an idiot anyway.

1) The Time Machine (1960, with Rod Taylor)

2) TimeRider

3) Destination Moon

4) The Illustrated Man

5) Terminator

Actually my favorite things to watch are Firefly (the best science fiction-western tv series ever made, with the possible exception of The Adventures of Briscoe County, Jr.) and Babylon 5 (not a tv series, but a 120-hour-long movie).
