After 48 hours of hell I’m back. On Tuesday morning I drove my daughter to my parent’s place 60kms north for her to spend time with them this week. On my way back I encountered a huge storm. Massive weather clashing between hot and cold fronts. This uber storm was moving south at my destination. I get out of the tunnel heading west to my home just 10min and there are turned over cars and debris. I saw military dude direct some traffic and some areas in the main street flooded. I’m saying to myself holy crap. I make it home and tell my wife the excitement outside and she tells me this massive rain cloud with thunder and lightning was blasting through. Well not 5 min after that another even bigger storm cloud moved in and actually was a large tornado right in the south side of Montreal and all of South shore area. Everything was going insane. 110Km winds blasting through for 45min. When the mother beast left all was quiet and still for a few moments. Then all kinds of sirens buzzing about as far as you ears can hear. Damage all kinds.
I’ve seen tornados in the distance but I have never been in one before until Tuesday. Can be the coolest thing to see but also very dangerous and scary. I know some of you out there have seen worse. Here where I live tornados are extremely rare. And larges one that spawn in a city well I don’t even know what to say about that one. My wife and I spent some candle light dinners together in the last 2 night’s hehehe. Maybe one more tonight for good times sakes. Good to have power back. Now I can see what has happened to the rest of the world while I’ve been gone. So what did I miss? |

Good news so far no one died as far as I know. I read a story on CTV.ca that 2 window washers guys were washing at 30 stories when the blazing storm hit. help wasn't comming because they were soo backuped with emergencies everywhere. They managed to break the glass and entered the building. http://montreal.ctv.ca/cfcf/video_popup?news_id=22708 http://montreal.ctv.ca/cfcf/video_popup?news_id=22707 Some more youtube shots, It was weird because that tuesday morning it was super hot and sunny. I drove my daughter to my parents for the week. Dropped her off and headed back home. In Laval I could see south of montreal the black huge clouds and alot of lightning flashes in the distance. After the tunnel I was in it. But the first cloud passed and left some damage. 5 min after I was home then the second uber cloud hit and all hell broke loose. 18 wheeler truck nearly was blown of the champlain bridge. My neighbour back yard end up on the front street. His BBq and patio was destroyed. Hail the size of base ball damage other guys car I know on his way back from the store. Its something from the movies. Almost surreal. But the nights were nice well asside from all the sirens and some looters. My wife an I were happy that our daughter was safe. ![]() Last edited by Wolfehunter; 06-12-08 at 03:47 PM. |
