Default My First Real Career

Lately, I've been enjoying my SH3 career immensely as I prepare to head into my 4th patrol. Having neglected the crew in the past I find the game more enjoyable when you actually manage the crew. Now I'm seeing a more skilled crew in each compartment.....full green bars.

Sunk the Nelson on my first trip out. Hit it with two torps to the bow and she was crippled. Amazing! Sent 1 or 2 more and she wouldn't sink. Then I got some distance and thought I would try the deck gun to finish her off and they were shooting at me!!!

My badly damaged ship went under for repairs and barely survived the damage. Managed to hobble back to base with 27% left but I made it.

Last patrol I thought I sunk a Fiji class but it never went down. Capital ships always get two deliveries from now on.

What a game so far! It's only summer, 1940 now and I can look forward to the challenge of the game getting more difficult as I progress forward.

My last patrol I got a top secret message to open up some envelopes with additional mission information. Do they exist or is this just for game immersion? Where are they??

Can you open the journal book near the Captain's bunk?

Cheers

top secret orders are for immersion only.

you cannot open the journal or interact with anything in the captains bunk other than the bed.

congrats on your career stats so far, good luck.

Ye Gawds!

It's a Battleship for pity's sake! you don't finish that off with your piddly little 88, you won't do more than scratch the paint. And as you've found out it doesn't take kindly to uppity little Uboats scratching it's paint

be glad you survived that If in the future you encounter one again and it's crippled from your first volley, loiter around about 15km off but staying within hydrophone range, it will sink eventually, it just might take a day or so....be patient

Thanks Keptin! LOL You're right! A little deck gun vs a battleship? The bow of the battleship was underwater so I didn't think they could shoot back. Argghh!! I believe I got a little overzealous about seeing my first crippled battleship in trouble. I will avoid all surface gun battles from now on and stick with my plan of avoiding all aircraft engagements.

This game gets better with each patrol.

Cheers

my general rule for gunbattles is, if they have more guns than you, don't.

personally I don't dodge all aircraft, the ones with only 1 or 2 bombs and few guns I engage, then (try to) dodge the bombs, at which point I take them down with the flak. I generally start doing this when the flakzwillings become available.

also it pays to shoot down stringbags, because they'll send more after you, gives you the opportunity to shoot down most of a carrier air wing, did this near norway once 21 stringbags before running out of ammo others seem to have the same idea, see Mr. Chris' recent posts in the screenshot thread.

Steve.
The Allies are polite only when unarmed. Tommy has never invited me for tea, and I visit often. .
