Planes visual radius
Hi,
Could someone remind me where you can adjust the ennemy planes visual distances ? I want to decrease them. Hoping it’s not in the SIM file… cause I don’t want to modify the ship’s visuals…

If you mean when a plane can see you, that would be the ai_sensors.dat I believe.

What install ? I've always found it to easy to avoid their attacks; the rwrs and crew give notice long before the plane is a threat and allow plenty of time to dive. In fact, I edited the rwrs so that planes weren't so boring, at least in terms of providing a surprise attack; they're still not much of a threat since they can't hit the broadside of a barn with their bombs or depth charges.

Radar warning receiver set, I'd imagine...

You could create a new visual sensor only dedicated to aircraft (in data/Library/AI_sensors). Then, of course, change the LinkName (with your new aircraft visual sensor) for the NodeName=O01 of all aircraft.sns files.

Good idea Mister_M. NYGM has such a node Fifi if desired for reference.

Using a Stock AI_Sensor.dat I find the maximum range = 8000 and MinSurface = 0.0 kind of crazy for AirCraft! That's saying a Plane will spot you at 5 miles distance even if just your scope is up and NOT moving! MinSurface is The minimum surface of the detected object [m2]. I'd say lower the Maximum range and increase the MinSurface for an Aircraft only AI_Sensor.dat I wonder how many people have perished WISHING planes could see you like that! |
