Default sound loop

I'm playing 1.4 GW mod with commander and I commonly get a sound loop. some random sound will start to play and then repeat forever. I have to save the game, exit and reload.

any suggestions?

Have the same problem sometimes.

Deal with it. Do something stupid and I guess it will go away. (Stupid meaning ramming a destroyer).

Update your sound card drivers?

Extremely, extremely annoying. I try to ignore it, but it gets to me sometimes.

Use the 'Sound Recorder' on your computer to check the "Creak" files in the SHIII/Data/Sound folder. The original SHII files were too long for SHIII to handle, and they may be the same ones used in GW. If they're longer than about 30 seconds they can get stuck in a loop. 'Sound Recorder' can be used to shorten them to your liking.

I have had this same problem with stock SHIII and RuB mod. It usually comes when I go at high TC levels. The sound just cant keep up with the game, so it starts to loop.

Tried everything to get rid of the loop (crashing, diving deep, shooting, crash dives, etc. no luck.) It is usually a 2-3 second loop and it drives me crazy. I've gopt the latest drivers and a fresh XP install.

I had the same problem, always with one of the creak sounds. I am using my DBSM sound files, if they were also used in the GW mod that would make sense. The DBSM creaks are long. They are also in stereo. Converting them to mono has helped.

Sometimes the creek sounds do this for me, especially if i use time compression.

To fix it I go to max depth and back to the surface without TC and it goes away.
