Coming back to SH3 NYGM 2.2 I find that my torpedo aim went down the toilet.
I approach a convoy. I target the nearest ship at the first column. I measure my distance correct. I know its speed to be 8 kts and I know its cours is 270. My own course is 345. I enter the speed manually on the TDC screen and make sure to turn off again so that gyro etc updates I then use the protractor tool to draw one leg from my sub to the target position, then second leg along the targets course. I enter this in to the tdc by clicking the checkmark. Do one more range find and checkmark. The door is open. I fire. The eel swims. And it hits the first ship in the THIRD column of the convoy. Like WTF? That was pure luck, the torps might as well have missed all of it. It is 3000 m range ones and I launch at about 2000 meter. What am I doing wrong since my torps fly without taking into consideration the target speed? I am positive I entered 8 kts on the TDC dial. I don't get it ![]()

The biggest mistake people make, is assuming the AOB picture is themselves. When looking at the AOB, the ship in the centre is your intended victim, not you. To select AOB, pretend you are on the deck of your target and you can see the U-boat - that is your AOB.
Do you use commander? The latest one has a sabotage function built in, my engines go to zero if I hit ahead flank. On my last patrol, most of my fish were duds, this could also be a possibility. Please tell us what, if any, mods you use, what patches you have installed etc as this will help us here to solve the problem |

......also, if you are using NYGM 2.2, you need to remember that there is also the random depth-keeping issue! Your eel MAY have run deeper than you set, and passed under your intended target, but then hit the other ship purely because it was inits track, and with sufficient depth for the eel to hit.
Just a thought! ![]() |

Haha it was indeed AOB problems. I forgot I was viewing the ships from the port side. So the AOB I set was 180 degrees off
![]() well I managed to kiss a Large Merchant and a Large Tanker this time with 2 out of 4 eels. My aim is back ![]() I used fan btw. I never seem to be able to use fan shooting for much good. But I like how it makes me able to shoot two eels very fast.

Also remember that convoys in NYGM 2.2 have randomly changing speeds. While they might have been going at 8kts when you got their report, they might be anywhere between 5-11 kts by the time you find them, and change during the encounter.

I think the OP said he was aiming for his pants.
You have to aim for the ships, not your pants. Now if your girlfriend tells you you've got a torpedo in your pants, that's a different story.

Yep, but if you refuel & reload from a supply ship, your fish will work brilliantly

You jokers you
![]() Kylania, I always take speed measures on my targets, so it wasn't speed. It WAS because the torpedo gyro thought the ships were moving in reverse at 8 knots that they sailed so much wrong. After I corrected my AOB method (ahem) my eels struck home and I bagged me a larget merchant and a large tanker.
