SH2 to PA conversion problem

I wonder if anyone can help?
I have carefully followed the conversion instructions to the letter, several times, and each time I get the following error message when trying to run PA.

Error -1 [Unknown unit category.]

Any help would be appreciated

Are you using the PA full or lite version?

This error comes from a missing unit. It either refers to a missing UDF text file, ADF/DDF system file or JRF model. That means something is missing in one of these folders:

Sim/Units
Sim/Models
Sim/Systems

If you copied all correctly from Dc to your Sh2 install, and then installed PA lite over it, it should work. If you had the full PA mod from subsim.com it should work directly.

Hi, thanks for replying.
The version I have is the one that I donated towards the cost of, and downloaded from the web, if that makes any sense? I do not have DC, only SH11, and I carefully followed the instructions.

Ah OK, that makes it much easier

First of all, it is possible that you have easily missed that the installer of PA automatically creates a "Pacific Aces" folder, and thus, if you install directly to a folder you have created with all SH2 files inside, the new files will not go to that main folder, but to a newly created subfolder inside it, called "Pacific Aces". To avoid this, when you give the installer the path, check that it really points to the folder you want.

This would explain your CTD, because the PA exe would start correctly through the direct links created at the desktop, but the game would later not find the units it needs because they are outside from the Pacific Aces folder due to the wrong install.

Hope it helps, but if it doesn't, please post here and I'll see to help you step by step until we get it working.

Thanks for your patience. I tried again, with same result.
1st I do a clean install of SH11 and rename it to P.A., then I unzip the 1.1 patch and open the exe file within the P.A. folder, then I unzip the RC4 file and open the exe and point it to the P.A. folder. I end up with 2 PA shortcuts on my desktop, 1 of which is 1.0 and 1 is 1.1. 1.0 goes to screen blanker and 1.1 goes to the Janus mesagge already posted. Very sorry.

Errr wait a moment....are you installing the SH2 1.1 patch or the PA 1.1 patch? You might have been confused, because there is a 1.1 official patch for Sh2 (From UBI) and a 1.1 patch for PA (From us PA Dev team), and both are NOT the same.

I think from your explanation that you are installing in the following order:

-Sh2 from the CD (That is version 1.006 of the original SH2 game)
-1.1 patch for PA
-1.0 version of PA

That would be wrong!!

The first thing you should try is to install just and only the Pacific Aces 1.0 mod. Reserve the patch 1.1 for later, when you are sure 1.0 works well.

The correct order is as follows:

-Clean install of Sh2 from your CD
-SH2 1.1 official patch from Ubisoft (NOT our 1.1 patch for PA!!!!), which you can get here (It's about 22MB and a slow web, be patient): http://www.silenthunterii.com/intro.html
-PA 1.0 version install (The ~100MB file downloaded from subsim.com)

Please verify you got this all OK

and report if it works.
When you are sure this works, we can try to install on top of that the 1.1 patch for PA.
