Default Naval Service Records

Does anyone know where you can get the naval records of people who served in the Royal Navy in WW1 and WW2 online?

I looked before, i hit a dead end, i think you have to go in person to some centre in the UK, but just in case anyone knows any different...

I tried once to look for my fathers service record, he was a Marine in the Pacific during the war. I ran into the same problem. I guess those records are sealed off from public viewing. Guess it's a national security issue or something. :hmm:
