Yeah those were freaky man. I thought they didn't exist when I ran into them in Heroes of the pacific. I was thinking "is that submarine launching FIGHTERS?"

Not fighters, but ground attack aircraft. (Some classify them as bombers.) They could carry 800 kg of bombs. (For comparison, early versions of Ju-87 "Stuka" could carry 500 kg)
