Default What's in a name?

O.K. I'm Abraham, because that's my Chistian name - in the dubbel sense of the word, actually.
Neal Stevens = Neal Stevens, that's clear, the Leader of the Pack.
John C. Channing and Bill Nichols also seem to be existing personalities, but who are you?

Drebbel, what made you pick that nick? Kapitain, why not Captain? Oombongo you say you're not from Africa, but you certainly have to explain something! XabbaRus, how Russian are you? TLAM Strike, you really sound threatening! Sixpack, do you really drink six cans at once? Skybird, well I know that you love Falcon flight si... ooops, sorry...
The Avon Lady only explains on her webside why she's not the Avon lady...
Is Damo1977 really 28 years old? Joea sounds Spanish to me, but I doubt if Hitman - who lives in Spain - is a hired killer... Isn't Iceman living somewhere in the desert instead of the North Pole, Arizona or what?
Is Rockstar really a rockstar whose CD's I can buy?
Shouldn't names like Jace11 and Gizzmoe by forbidden by law?
Don't you see a future, Torpedo Fodder?
And Pigfish, what the hack did you have in mind?
Not to mention all those names that don't pop up at 02:36 am...

To make a long story short, this thread is not about 'Who are you?' but about 'Why are you named the way you are?'

Mine:

Snowsub basically I've got Snow as part of my forum names on any forum I've partaken in. Sub for obvious reasons on this type of Site/Forum.

Snow part comes from Mr Snow, a character in the Amtrak Wars series of books. But he's probably more itelligent than i am lol.
You could also say it's irony considering where I live.

CCIP... I hope at least some of you have played modern-day flight simulators and don't have an immature mind... :rotfl:

Snowsub: that was certainly one name I was wondering about. The avatar looked like Popeye but the name reminded me of Santa Claus...

Actually I picked that name after about 15 seconds of thinking for name that sounded submarine like.

Don't try to intimidate me. My cap looks better than yours and that's all that counts on a sub!

1916 is the year that my dearest Football/soccer club Legia Warszawa was founded, and is the most associated word/number with the club. I didn't have much inspiration for a good name around me when I chose it.

When I first joined the Subsim forums I used my real name. As time went on and I realized that I might stick around here I was told that I shouldn't use my real name. So I tried to change it in profile. Over and over and over. I did not realize that I would need a moderators help to change my user name. So in my efforts I tried many name changes but none worked. Had you been able to simply change user name with profile I would probably be known now as 'Seaslug'.

Eventually, with help from the forum members, I realized I had to contact Neal to make a change and Pigfish sounded humorous enough and was the I was trying to use at the time, among others.

As time went on and going on the apparent humor of my user name I thought it cute enough to give myself a pig avatar, as a play on my user name.

I'm a happy pig guys, nothing strange or weird about it, it just happened...kinda...

My first experience in multiplayer was with Novalogic's original Delta Force (1) game.

I wanted a name that would be ammusing in the game's "kill" messages. I found "Sergeant Slaughter/Rambo/Mean Street Kid/Crusher was shot dead by The Avon Lady" to be to my liking.

What got me upset was the day I was killed by a Mary Kay girl.

@ The Avon Lady:
Nova Logic = Avon Lady, for people that are used to read words from the right to the left but figures from the left to the right, the name makes perfect sense.

And always listen to Mother Mary! She speaks words of wisdom, let it be...

@ Pigfish:
I really thought your name referred to Pigboats, the nickname of US Submarines at the start of WWII...

@ Kapitain:

And (lesson 2) you forgot the "I"'s and the "."'s again!

@ StdDev:
Sorry for hurting your feelingsStdDev, but your nickname was too obvious. Even I have heard of Pythagoras' theorem...

I think you're confused. Let me explain: Mary Kay.
