I now have a new computer, have installed SH3 and patched it: no mods as yet. Cost an arm and a leg and will take some time to pay off the loan for it.
![]() When I attempt to play the game, the screen goes blank. ![]() If I access the Windows Task Manager it shows that the game is running. I have loaded BF2 and it plays fine. The specs of my computer are AMD 64 x2 processor 4800+ Windows XP Home 2 x 256MB DDR3 Nividia 7800GTX PCI express graphics 20" screen running at 1600x1200 I have tried the game at 1024x780, but get the same problem. I remember there were some threads a few months ago about similar problems but cannot find them. ![]() Can anyone please help as to what the problem may be? ![]() |

Hello,
the Starforce driver does not work with the 64 bit version, up to some days ago there was no fix, however you should ask at the Starforce forum whether there now IS a new SF driver, or you can do a 32 bit XP install, maybe via multiboot, to run SH3. Greetings, Catfish |

I read awhile back that the dual parrallel config for the video cards "could" be causing some issues. I thought the dual cards were dead anyways though.
Are you using the 2 cards to push 2 monitors? Or pumping it into just the 1. Trying pulling one of them, and see if the game loads. |

Ya, I'd agree it's the SLI mode, since you said XP Home and not XP 64 bit OS.

That is really a shame: having spent much money to obtain a monster puter and still not being able to play SHIII.
The combination of an AMD 64 bit processor and Windows XP works fine for me....my graphics card is AGP though..... I wish I could be of any help, but all I can say is that I hope you'll get it right soon! Good luck!

Professional version, I believe it includes service pack 2 as well.....
Although I am not an expert I think that your graphics card is causing the problem, but as I said I am no expert.... Game should be running smooth as silk on your monster machine!

Maybe it´s just the intro not playing. Try to klick left with mouse when the screen goes blank.
I had similar problems at the beginning, cause i refused to install windows media codecs. :P |

Gammel
I'll try that, thanks and report back. Just been conversing with Star-Force (Lev). Very helpful and obviously prompt. ![]() Thinking about what Gammel said, is there way to disable the intro movies? Cheers |

Don´t know how to disable the intro.
In my case i could go past it by clicking left mouse (try several times) when the screen got black. Is the black screen displayed just a moment after the disc verification? Try to the intro file with a media player of your choice. It is located in the folder: \SilentHunterIII\data\Movies\Intro Does it work? Please forgive my bad language skills. ![]() |

Rename the Intro and Logo files so they don't play when you launch the game.
99% of the time they do work fine if you use WMP but wont work when the game tries to launch them. Quote:
