U.S. to Remove Patriot Missile Batteries from Saudi Arabia

... Pentagon planners believe that limited U.S. military resources—including warships and Patriot missile systems—should be devoted to other priorities, including efforts to counter expanding Chinese military influence in Asia, according to the U.S. officials.
My guess is building up military hardware in the Pacific region in case China gets frisky and starts poking the bear while it recovers from COVID and tries to get its economy back on track. Wonder what else is on the way?

Wait, side thought. How does the Patriot system compare in performance to a Russian AA network? Patriot is a smaller missile, right? I don't know a lot about them.

I just read Greece is moving their defensive missile systems into Saudi Arabia as we move ours out. The article I linked too above said we may be moving ours to PACAREA. The other (thedrive.com) mentions we are looking to move them into Iraq. My guess is Kurdish area of Iraq.

I think that would depend on which Russian AA system and which variant of the Patriot. The Patriot PAC-3 is more focused on destroying missiles where the earlier models may do better against aircraft.

According to Zacharias V. Michas

Relations with Saudi Arabia are of key importance and must be developed with complete sincerity. Bilateral consultation mechanisms may also include sensitive areas. Greece is an EU member state, appreciated and respected in the Arab world and can play a role in facilitating the relations of Arab countries with Europe.

Saudi Arabia (in partnership with the United Arab Emirates and Egypt) is the country that is leading the effort to tackle the destabilizing action of the Muslim Brotherhood in the Mediterranean region and beyond. Let us not forget that Erdogan’s Turkey uses the Brotherhood as an arm of expansion and infiltration.
Kashoggi was a very outspoken critic of the Kingdom, one could even consider him extremist pro muslim brotherhood and he got wacked because of it.
