I remember seeing Bob Einstein first on the original Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. He was a writer on the show and would do occasional bits as a cast member; his most well known and remembered character was "Officer Judy", a motorcycle cop modeled after the LAPD style officers. He would often come out on stage while the Smothers were performing and try to bust them for some infraction or another, always with a dead-on deadpan delivery:
Officer Judy would also do performances such as this: This clip is Bob Einstein's first appearance from the original Smothers show as recounted by the Smothers in a reunion special in 1988: This clip is Bob Einstein talking about being on the Smothers show; it also gives a glimpse into how he got into comedy, how he created the character of Officer Judy, and what being a comedy writer in the late 60s was like ; Bob Einstein was a great comedic talent and will be fondly remembered... I wonder if Officer Judy is writing out a ticket for Super Dave in the afterlife?... RIP, Bob, and thanks for all the laughs... <O>
