Boat Skippers Beware!

It's raining cats and dogs at the mouth of Kii Suido, one of my fav fishing holes for Pacific campaings. I'm on the surface recharging the batts. It's raining so hard I doubt visibility is 200 yds. I go below and advance TC to 1024 to take on a full charge before I either go decks awash or peri to ride out the storm.

Fuming mad I call for a crash dive and head to the bridge to see If I can snag a glance of what's going on before we go under.

Just before we slip under, I spy a Sampan that is armed and spraying us with a small deck gun.

When you least expect it. Expect it.

I'm sure he used his radio too, and now his fly-boy buddies will come try to find you - soon as the weather breaks, that is...

Holy moly an armed Sampan?! im out in an S-45 on the Guadalcanal theater, they are my bread and butter until i can find the notorious Tokyo express. Never encountered an armed Sailor before. I'll be extra vigilant now.

Honorable skipper-san. We are innocent fishermen on sampan. Surely we would not carry weapons unless for self-defense. Mistook you for big whale. Now please to stay there for 12 hour please to protect innocent fisherman from harm.

It may be war but innocent fisherman and family must eat. Please to stay around for 12 hour while he he catch enough to survive another week. No problem! Thank you honorable skipper-san.

Watch out for the Crab Boats too! Tried sailing up to one to check it out and received some very accurate AA fire, killing several of my crew. Not hardly big enough to waste a torpedo, but what the hell, blew them into Tomorrow Land anyway. Can't trust anyone.

Here's a clue. If they see you and start a zig-zag, they are probably not friendly or harmless.
