When i was about 12 years old, i awoke one sunny Saturday morning to a phone call from my buddy who lived next door. Next door is a relative term when you live on a horse ranch, but even at 300 yards distant, my neighbor could tell that something wasn't right at my house. He reported to me the details over the handset, that a man had stopped his dodge pickup truck at the front pasture, hopped the fence, and climbed onto one of our horses bareback. I concluded the call, alerted my father, and watched out the barely opened front door. The man then proceeded to ride the horse around the pasture, stopping in the middle of it and proclaiming with a loud voice "I am Jesus Christ!". the man waved his arms around "Come to me all animals! i command the birds! I command you all! come to me! Come to your God!!" I faintly remember looking for the nearest birds to see if they were motivated by his request... and, it would appear, they seemed quite disinterested in meeting Jesus. Eventually, an officer from the Smith Country Sheriff's department showed up, followed minutes later by another. The dodge pickup truck was taken on a test drive from a local dealership the previous evening and was never returned. The man was handcuffed and lead away. Jesus, as it would turn out, was Johnny Manziel's uncle... one has to wonder if his entire family is plagued by the same or similar demons. Either way, Johnny Football's career, is most probably over, or nearly so. Talent aside, off field issues are bigger in 2015 - 2016 in the NFL than any previous years since the creation of the league. When a player creates constant trouble for the front office staff, coaching staff, and is a spur in the side of fellow players... no matter his talent, sooner or later nobody is interested in him. That, im afraid is where Mr Manziel is today. Growing up the child of a wealthy family, his life has been more or less free of responsibility, hardship and consequences for his actions. He is now learning the hard way that adulthood is very different from his coddled youth. Regardless if whether or not you are a fan of Manziel, it is always nice to see someone dig their head out of their rear end, and make a change in their life and make something out of themselves... it would be great to see Manziel do this too. unfortunately, it may be too little to late. Such an awful waste of talent

If you factor in their incredible salaries, You have individuals very much out of touch with reality. One thing however that is not widely reported is the many sports stars that have used their fame for good. They give of their time and money in many worthwhile causes. Many have continued that beyond their playing years but it's not widely reported because it's simply not news worthy. Tabloid news would rather report on the negative aspects and many tabloid reporters would rather make the news about themselves. News today is more about how good you look on TV and less about actual Journalistic abilities. I enjoy sports but lately find myself not watching as much. It may well come to the point that I don't watch anymore. |

Similarly to a former local hero around my area Paul Gascoine (Gazza).
