SK claims another rock that it says is somehow linked (geologically) to the Korean mainland.
Those rocks, Chinese, Japanese, Korean or Martian, mean nothing anyway, and are just alibis. It is about the resources in the whole maritime region.

Then there's the Liancourt Rocks, that's a South Korea vs Japan affair. Taiwan fits into the issue somewhere as well. It's all good fun, but not likely that South Korea will go to war with the PRC, they might be able to trash the DPRK, but they're punching above their weight against Beijing. |

That is true but you forgot to mention that pretty much the entire East China Sea and the South China Sea are heavily disputed.China,Japan,Vietnam,North and South Korea and the Philippines all make claims that conflict with other nations on both land claims and fishing claims "economic zones".I course I am fairly sure you are already aware of this fact but others might not be. @Red October as Skybird said all of this has much more to do with having the largest "exclusive economic zone" which allows a nation to control who is using the sea and land for anything economic fishing and what all else. A good example would be the Bearing Sea between Alaska and Russia. The US maintains a very large exclusive economic zone which covers most of the Bearing Sea a Russian,Canadian or Japanese (or any other nations) fishing vessel must pay a fee to have permission to fish or do anything profitable in those waters while a ship registered in the US does not have pay these fees and must only obey federal regulations on what they can and can not take the industrial version of game laws. This is what China claims the darkest tone is undisputed the other two are disputed between other nations. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ch...omic_Zones.png A closer look at areas claimed by both China and Japan http://www.eia.gov/todayinenergy/ima...hinaSeaMap.png Last edited by Stealhead; 12-08-13 at 08:25 PM. |

An ADIZ isn't such a threatening or provocative thing to establish, I was surprised to see the Chinese one didn't extend so far.
However as always this time it is provocative. Airspace classification is now political dialogue. Sigh.

I'm pretty sure that the US (and Australia) is technically still at war with China and/or North Korea...
Let's hope the ceasefire isn't broken.

Not so bambino buddy; war was never declared against China or Korea; it was a 'police action' and the second largest Chinese country in the world is the USA. Start learning Mandarin so it looks like ya' got some class!

![]() I just wish we'd just barge in there and end the bickering once and for all. "HERE! YOU TAKE THIS AND YOU TAKE THIS! YOU GET WHAT YOU GET AND YOU DON'T THROW A FIT!" just like you would to some fighting children on the playground. Quote:

Now, "United Nations Intervention" is a better way I think. Since nobody really declared war.... I keep saying we should've ended it 60 years ago... ![]() And China wouldnt fight us....neither would North Korea. The DPRK can't support a war with that government, infrastructure and economy. They got enough on their plate as it is. And if we get into it with China, what happens to the economies of us both? We both take a huge hit. There goes all this labor and goods just....poof. And I doubt an invasion of the US could easily happen. ![]()

That wont be happening any time soon. If another war occurs between nations in this part of the war it will be unrelated.
