Default Post-Scotland flag

I found thid article quite interesting...What would the union jack look like if the Scottish bit were removed?

Quote:
Scotland's referendum on independence is now just over 10 months away, but the question of what might happen to the union jack has been largely overlooked. An association of flag experts, or vexillologists, has created a set of designs it hopes will encourage a discussion.

Some 400 years ago when the crowns of England and Scotland were united, an argument raged about how the blue field and white saltire of St Andrew could be combined with the red cross of St George.

The Scots were eager that their flag should be laid on top of the English flag, but of course the English thought it should be the other way around. It took a Royal proclamation to determine that the English flag should take precedence.

Really like the third choice down with the Scottish lion still in (clan Kincaid here) but with a Welch Dragon in the lower right instead of three lions; inasmuch as the heir apparent IS also Prince of Wales. Is it not PC in Britain to refer to the LEO transport to the constabulary as a 'PADDY' wagon' if a Welch detainee is involved?

Maybe not the right place.

I know that there are fanatical Scottish people that have been asking/hopping for a independent Scotland

Will these people respect the result of a referendum, even if it' s a negativ result(stil being a part of the commonwealth or Union Jack)?

In reality as the article explains there is no need to change the union flag as Scotland will remain subject to the British monarch and it is the union of the crowns that gave rise to the flag in the first place. 300 years before parliamentary union.

The hardcore element of Scotland won't but it ids the first time the SNP have had a majority vote.

I say let them go but they must take their fair share of the national debt, sort out their own currency and their defence.

Ok, so I'm just a dumb yank who probably couldn't tell you the difference between "England" and "United Kingdom"; but ahh, is Scotland thinking about leaving the UK to form it's own independent country or something?

I certainly don't consider you as some 'dumb yank' (and that's not a proposal to marriage) but yes...the SNP (Scottish National Party) are having their first taste of holding a majority in the Scottish Parliament so they now want independance.

You want to be ruled by Britain again? Rethinking your independance?

Can't say I blame you

Wow, at least that certainly sounds ehh... ground breaking? Here in the US, such a thing would be earth shattering. In fact, if my knowledge of history is correct, and I'm understanding this current event correctly, I think we had a somewhat similar thing happen here around 1861? It didn't go very well. Or would that be blowing it all out of proportion?

Call me a heretic if you want, but I wouldn't mind it if we removed a star or two.

California, Florida, and Illinois? (No offense to people in those states, but I don't like the states too much)

They'd have to change the saying to 47 Stars...

Actually, we say that we'd like to lose some states, but deep down I don't think anybody does. And I think it would never happen. It would take something that citizens here could actually unite on to split a state from the main country.

The whole Scotland deal though, I wasn't aware that things were that way between Scotland and the England.

I always thought you guys were all hunky dory over there with the exception of Ireland (which I understand is a very sore subject so I won't go there).
