HMS London (county class destroyer), HMS Kent, Fearless, Minerva, Amazon, Ambuscade... HMS Cambridge (several times), Royal Naval College Dartmouth, Flag Officer Sea Training.... Whale Island royal Naval School Of Insanity.

Certainly sounds like it...I was in the merchant navy myself (Bank Line/Andrew Weir).
