Hello all
After reading various posts with regards to mods and mod installation order and so on it all seems a bit overwhelming and confusing at times. I think I have it all sorted but would appreciate if the more experienced members could look over my to do list and put me right where I have gone wrong. 1. Install a fresh copy of SH5. 2. Install the official 1.2 SH5 patch. 3. Copy the JGSME setup exe into the SH5 folder and run it ensuring that a folder called MODS is created within the SH5 folder. 4. Copy all of the mods to be installed into the MODS folder. 5. If the TDW generic patcher is one of the mods then after copying to the MODS folder follow the instruction found here to make the required changes to suit. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=197960 6. If the NewUIs_TDC_7_1_0_ByTheDarkWraith is one of the mods then after copying to the MODS folder run the OptionsFileEditorViewer exe and make all the required changes to suit. 7. If the NewUIs_TDC_7_1_0_Real_Navigation is one of the mods then after copying to the MODS folder follow the instructions found in Sobers mega mod post to ensure that it works correctly. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=192374 8. Run JGSME and generate a snapshot of the unaltered game files. 9. Install all the mods in the correct order as listed on Sobers mega mod post . However I'm not sure as to when to install the TDW generic patcher mod with the altered exe files, I'm guessing it doesn't matter. 10. Make changes to the SH5 save game folder as specified in the Sobers mega mod post. 11. Set U Play to offline mode. 11. Start game with administrator and windows 7 compatible options. 12 Follow all instructions with regards to starting a new campaign found in Sobers mega mod post. 13. Sink ship an enjoy. The only step I think Im unsure of is applying the TDW generic patcher but if anything else is wrong or missed out please let me know. Many thanks for taking the time to read ![]() |

Looks good to me Skip
![]() Some more suggestions:- Use 7zip or zipgenius to unpack the compressed mods When you place the mods in the MODS folder - check and ensure that the first folder you see within a mod is a DATA file. Some mods are packed with extras. So always check for this DATA file. Yes - follow Sobers list order You do not have to edit TDWs mod. Many of the default settings are good, But doing so lets you set thing the way you want. See here for a demo using the options editor http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=202346 For TDWs patcher - you can place it at the end of your list of mods ![]() |

Many thanks for the reply Trevally
One other question the problem I have been having the most is with your scripts not showing up in the scripts box or are corrupted when I reload a saved game. What would you recommend as being the easiest fix for this when it happens. cheers |

The most common cause for them not showing is that one of them is corrupt or just wrong.
What autoscripts have you installed? Try downloading again and reinstall ![]() |

Have installed the scripts below.. in the order Sober recommends.
Trevally Tutorial - All v0.2(for OHIIv1.3) Trevally Automated Scripts v0.6 Trevally Harbour & Kiel Canal Pilot v2.9 Trevally TDC Help v2 As I said when I first started a campaign they worked fine, but when I load a campaign saved game for some reason the scripts don't always show in the script box. stange cant seem to see pattern as to why they show sometimes but not other times. Perhaps I should download them again and unpack with 7zip just incase WinRAR messed em up |

If so we can see what is going on by using the Dbgview.
Exit the game and open folder - C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\data\Applications Run the app Dbgview Start your SH5 - when loaded goto the automation page and see if it is blank exit game and save the report from Dbgview. You can copy and paste the txt here - wrap it in the code quotes to save space (#) ![]() |

Skip, do you have any other automation scripts installed? I tried to use two: Krauter's and AvM's. They both use an obsolete syntax that New_UIs 7.1 and 7.2 have trouble recognizing. The AvM scripts have been updated by Trevally, get the latest version here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...o=file&id=2786
I have made some of my own scripts (copying shamelessly from, and with thanks to, Trevally) and found that the least syntax error in a script (mine, all mine!) will cause the automation page to have "funnies" when displaying available scripts. Sometimes some will show, other times not. Sometime I click on a category and it is "empty". Then I immediately click again, and the sub-categories appear. Unpredictable errors. Once you fix the syntax problem or simply uninstall the out-of-date packages, the problems go away. But errors in any script can cause the whole automation page to malfunction in non-fatal ways. Might be what you are seeing. |

It certainly is! I cranked out over a dozen yesterday AM. Some just variations on a theme (with waypoints vs real nav, etc.) but still.... I'd urge anyone with a whit of simple programming experience - like wriing macros for Excel - or just computer self-confidence to try it.
But I only bothered because I looked inside yours and saw how you had done things. Thanks again. Your Harbour (sic ![]() ![]() |
