Default Can't end patrol

Hi all,

I've been quite successful sinking 6 ships on the way to Bismark Sea, my assigned patrol area. I've reached it but can't get the game to acknowledge it and mark the patrol as complete (Yellow star turn to gray).

Anyone know why this is and hoe I can "fix" it?

I'm assuming if I return to base as-is, I've failed my mission.

Thanks!

Is this SH5 or SH4 you're talking about?

If you are talking about SH5 (I presume by you posting in SH5 forum), it is moderately simple:

the locationg, which is indicated on your nav map as "patrol the designated area" - this is where you need to sink the ships. The radius is approximately 100km from the center.

Any sunk ships outside the area do not count towards THIS PARTICULAR mission, but do count towards total.

If you can't end your patrol, as your thread title says, it usually means you are trying to dock at the wrong base. You could have been transferred, so look for the Sub symbol at another base and go there. At bases with no sub symbol you can only 'Refit'.... fuel, ammo, and torpedoes only.

Hmmm.

Thank you for your responses. I measures the nearest sunk ship at 42.8 nautical miles (79.3 km), so it should have worked. Now I sank it on my way to the patrol "area". Wonder if that makes a difference.

Anyway, I will replay the game from after the initial convoy attack, going straight away to the star.

Will let you know how it turns out.

Click on the icon for the main areas you go to for the mission you select. When you do it will show tha complete area that camapign covers. Sometimes tho your selected mission might not be in that huge area.

Ooops, sorry.

Bad eyes. Actually was 73 NM (135 km). Will head straight to star without using up remaining torpedoes. BTW, this is a career patrol.

Cybermat47 was right to ask which game. guess Bismark Sea gave that away. I am playing SH IV, not V. Still, sunk a ship less than 2 NM from star, still no acknowledgment of completing patrol parameter.

Should I repost this thread in SH VI? Anyone here know if I'm just SOL because of a bug?

Sorry for the confusion.

If you're using OHII, you can sink one ship in your designated patrol area that should be enough to meet the requirements. Make sure it's a Passenger/Troop transport or a Freighter. As said, anything "on the way too it" doesn't count. It just adds to your total tonnage count... which is ok. Don't pass anything up that's worth while. I leave those puny Coastal boats alone.
