Default Observation scope problem

Hi all,

Uber noob question: how do you use the observation scope? Riding a Type VIIB and whenever I select the observation scope all I get is a black view, even if I raise it all the way up. What gives?

TIA

First things first, get the simple things out of the way, are you at periscope depth?

Are you using the right keys to get it up and down? You hear the sound, but it is the attack periscope that raises if you don't use the right keys. Page Up/Down vs. Ins/Del.

As Pices said, use the correct keys

Attack scope: raise = page up; lower = page down
Observ scope: raise = insert; lower = delete

To speed up the process, hold down the SHIFT key when pressing the appropriate key.

OR .....

Press F3 to get to the periscope view. The attack scope is the default. Press "O" to switch to the observation scope. Then use the "periscope up/down toggle switch just to the left of the light for tube 5 to raise or lower the scope .
