Whenever I use a Type II U-Boat, I get half to three quarters of the way through a patrol and my computer shuts down. Not just a crash to the desktop, I mean all the way shut down. When I use a Type VII it acts like it's supposed to.
Any ideas? Thanks |

do you mean you get a blue screen?
possible causes for a blue screen are all harwdare related and could likely be- 1. video card and or video drivers- a likely culprit 2 audio card and or drivers (if you have an audio card) 3. memory- rey to reseat you modules and or run a mem test you will have to begin a trouble shooting process. i would play other games or use othe r processes and see if you get a BSOD ![]() |

it could be that whatever type of model or perhaps skin or detail of that uboat is causing your video card to try to draw more power or even your cpu to draw more power from your power supply and it shuts down because it gets hot. or its pulling too many things and your cpu runs hot causing the system to shut down. or you have a bad chipset heating up somewhere causing the shut down. another words.... its a heat issue somewhere in your system, something is heating up and just shutting down.

Thanks for the help.
To brett25; no blue screen. I have to restart the computer. It shuts down. It just turns itself off. To drakkhen20; I'll uninstall the mods for the Type II and try that. Thanks once again. |

yes it does sound like heat, open the case and see if the fans are spinning, also see if theres loads of dust cloging the heat sink behind the fan . you can get some compressed air in a can and shoot the dust out if there is any. Like drkken said your CPU may be hanging and heating up around some process related to something in SH3. However, im suprised that you havent seen this issue when using the computer in other situations. Is sh3 the most CPU intensive thing you do on this machine?

You know what, brett25? That's exactly what it was. I guess I never paid that much attention to it before. I will now, though.
Thanks for all the help. ![]() |
