Il-2 Sturmovik 1946 Patch question

Which patch do I need to get to the most recent and updated version and to play online?

Do you need the disc inserted to play? I hope they have released a no cd patch like BI with ArmA 2 and Arrowhead.


Where do I need to go to join multiplayer?
Does it support widescreen(16:10 ratio) now?

If anyone is up for a flight or two feel free to PM me.
I'm probably so rusty now as the last time I play the game was years ago.

Hi Cast,

The latest Version of IL2 is 4.10m
if the disc is still required I wouldn't dare the say some copies are some not depending the retailer iirc.

(however most of us lolwaffles still run 4.09m due the use of mods, can't tell if the mods have been updated yet to be used with 4.10m)

As for Widescreen, you must manually edit this in the config.ini file located in the IL2 main folder *open with notepad or other text editor* (the menu will still have these black bars on each side of the screen but in game it works like a charm and doesn't stretch the image)

this is what you must change in the config.ini

[window]
width=xxxx - set to native monitor resolution
height=xxxx - set to native monitor resolution
ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=1
FullScreen=1
DrawIfNotFocused=0
EnableResize=1 <- set to 0
EnableClose=1
SaveAspect=1 <- set to 0
Use3Renders=0

You'll be needing them all
4.08m - 4.09m and then 4.10m

as for aircraft skins their compability shouldn't matter.

For 4.09 it says Russian edition.

I'm downloading 4.09 beta right now

So I need 4.08 as well. A lot of download. I don't have the copy yet though.

Edit it seems I was wrong my friend is not getting me IL-2 1946 but the complete edition. There was no 1946 in stock :-(

But it's ok I'm eyeing cliffs of Dover which will be released this coming March.

You'll need 4.09m FULL (the Beta will not be compatible with 4.10m)

Mmm...if he has the Complete edition which is all the IL2 game till Pacific Fighters.

then multiplayer for him is out of the question as I doubt servers still run 4.04m which iirc was the latest patch for Pacific Fighters anythng above that requires IL2 1946.

Yes, Hunter is right. Complete edition is pretty much useless as it only contains IL2+PF+FB+AEP, where as IL2 1946 contains the same as the complete ed. + the 1946 stuff and patch support.

Yea h doh no 1946 here I'd have to buy it online but would rather wait for Shogun 2, Dragon Age 2 and IL-2 cliffs over Dover. A little weird all the games I will be buying online except for Mass Effect 3 are coming our in March together.

You can get it for like $7 though Which is a liiiittle less than Shogun or Dragon Age!

About 35 from Play Asia. I buy from them free delivery though. Might get it eventually but I already have 3 titles to get. I'll see about it when the time comes.

Yes! Thank you, this is work for me. When the game is loading (cut the top and bottom of the screen - black stripes) looks no good, but in the game is OK!

All my EB Game stores locally are full of IL-2 1946, usually 10-15 copies per store
