![]() Is it just me or are the GWX and Commander mod combination screwing around with the saved game files?
The loading screen sometimes have me departing 0 00' latitude 0 00' long. And the monthly tonnage report is messed up, and sometimes, no news of any kind are displayed... But that's splitting hairs... The real problem comes when the saves are loaded. On many occasions my save files were corrupt, negating several hours worth of gameplay. The results are interesting. I once was crushed instantly to death despite being only 50 meters deep in a non-damaged VIIB Other times, Crewmen occupy the watchtower while underwater, and silent running is automatically turned off. And for some reason, my crew men are cheering despite the fact that nothing happened.... Also, if I hit a ship and I save before it sinks, the loaded file will not count the sinking ship as my kill... And today, all my save files have mysteriously disappeared... GAH... So many hours... lost... NO!!! So please... anyone with any insight to what might help stop these gremlin's from killing off my commanders? This problem is so destructive, the allies should have used this to combat U-boats... |

Any time you save underwater you risk the dreaded "death dive".
Any time you save within 50 km of any ship you risk save game fails. These are bugs that come stock with SH3 and have nothing to do with GWX or Commander.

As Steve has noted, the corrupted save game problem exists in the stock game and is not a byproduct of GWX or Commander.
The starting point of zero degrees long/lat is also a known issue but for the life of me I can't remember if a specific cause has been pinned down... IIRC it has something to do with trying to start from a base or flotilla (or some combo of the two) that is historically inaccurate for the in-game date, leading to the game not knowing where to place you on the map. I could be wrong though. Quote:
Did you try to load a save from earlier in your career? If so I'm pretty sure the game will have automatically deleted every save made after it. Once that happens I think they are irretrievable. Also a stock game "feature."

Then you didnt save correctly, or somehow deleted the files.
And the 0/0 bug put me south of West Africa once, right on 0/0. |

GWX nor Commander screw with Saves.
That is a Stone Cold FACT. 1000's and 1000's of users can't be wrong. |

Go to your SH3 folder in C\MyDocs and open up the file to view whatever name you gave the career for example 'jimbuna'....now rename it by adding an 'x' at the end of 'jimbuna' and your saves will reappear.
