Default Trapped Miners in Chile

It shouldn't be long now before the miners are rescued:

http://af.reuters.com/article/metals...24014320101009

I wonder what the final conversation will be prior to their release?

"Okay lads, let's all remember this for next week: What happened in the mine, stays in the mine".

Good to hear.

I posted on this when it first happened like a month ago its several pages back now.

Yea it should make for very interesting 'debriefings' and then fascinating interviews once they get rescued.

Since they never officially "clocked out", I wonder it they will get overtime. They certainly deserve it.

So far it looks like Chile handled this very well.

The drill has broken through but there are still many risks/dangers to be considered:

IIRC it is an internationally accepted mining industry principle that miners trapped underground are on continuous pay until rescued.

I hope the Chilean authorities recognise said principle.

I did not know this. I am sure that if this were an American owned company, they would have been fired like DarkFish posted.

Could be a bit longer, as they have to line the shaft. They are hoping that it will be only the first hundred meters or so, but it may have to be lined the whole way. This would not be easy, as there is a bend in the shaft half way down.

They won't rush it now. they can't afford to stuff this chance up, as it would be a bitter blow to the miners and rescuers.

Surely not....no employer could be that insensitive and callous given the circumstances and worldwide media attention

Let's hope there are no earthquakes due.

I'm watching BBC America and they are live at the scene, looks like the rescue pods are being put into position to begin the rescue operation in... they're saying about two hours from now. They hope to have the first of the men out tonight. Pray, chant, burn incense, cross your fingers & toes, think good thoughts, whatever it is you do - it surely can't hurt.
