Default 70th Anniversary of Battle of Britain

Surprised no-one posted this but Saturday was the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/10588684.stm

Heres to those brave men who fought overwhelming odds, and emerged victorious

I thought July 10th was the start of the BoB...

Ah, well. either way.

Today is the anniversary of the Battle of Prokhorovka and Operation Kutuzov though, arguably one of the most important turning points of World War II.

EDIT: Ah, saturday. Right.

Monty Python skits might have been so much different without the sacrifices made by the brave airmen of the RAF. May we never forget.

Yes it's Daily Mail, but a nice piece on the underrated Hawker Hurricane's role in the Battle of Britain:

Nice piece, the Hurri was the unsung hero of the BOB. A superb kite that would bring you home even if she looked more like a sieve than an aircraft.

Yeah, thought he meant today was as usually these threads are made on the actual date, then I looked again and edited my post to reflect my original lack of reading of the original post.

All is well now, move along.
