Definitely not a must-see event unless you happen to enjoy those twisty darn things. The 10-o'clock news here has been extended tonight with the weather livecast reports of funnels on the ground. It's all happening several counties away, but it still leaves me feeling a little bit queasy. They're showing a hook right now that is situated northwest of Ft. Dodge (2 miles out). Crossing my fingers for central Iowa tonight.
I do not like this time of year. ![]()

Shouldn't you be in your storm cellar? That's pretty close. |

several years ago we had a big one stretch down out of the cloud base with no warning... it was a serious code brown moment. it stretched down to the ground for about 5 seconds and sucked back up into the cloud and vanished like it never happened. it hit a gas station... not a scratch on the whole building except for one pump had been moved to the middle of the street, upright, with the hoses and handles still neatly stowed on the pump levers. ![]()

I'm a few counties away from there. We usually don't see that activity here in the Metro, except for last year when one touched down about 12 miles north of town.
I'm not a natural-born native of the area, so this time of year is (as GR put it) a code brown for me. ![]()

When we visited some friends in OKC a few years ago we had very severe looking weather our first day. Very exciting
![]() ![]() That said, best of luck to you poor suckers stuck in tornado alley!

That tornado that hit us in 86, it was amazing how many people were on their roofs, taping the tornado!

I dare say Reed Timmer is already chasing them.
![]() We're probably going to get storms on the weekend, considering it's been knocking thirty celsius today, they will probably be impressive. |

I remember my time in Nebraska. We had these microbursts which came and hit with no warnings. Very scary.

Reed Timmer has adrenaline in his eyes. He's just crazy enough to do it and still be a normal guy.

That's where there is a sudden, powerful downflow of air?
