Default U-Boot Ammo

Hi Kaleuns,

I still don't know if I should use Jimbunas Additional_Ammo Mod. Does anyone have some historically based information regarding the u-boot ammo?

I didn't find much in the WWW.

Thanx,
h.sie

I researched this matter some time back and found examples of boats carrying upwards of 250 rounds (in one of the Clay Blair volumes there is an example of a Type IXD2 Luth, U-181, carrying 377 rounds) so I reckoned on 250 rounds being a reasonable average.

Edit:

Thanks Jim.

So 250 is already average. That's good to know and what I want.

So I'll integrate it into my intensively modded Basic.cfg.

Thanks for the mod.

So you think we should have 250 rounds of 105 ammo instead of GWX-stock 110? Sweet!

On the other hand the uboat.net article mentions the 110 rounds as 'normal'. The higher amounts seem to be exceptions.

Oh I agree, it was more common for the VII to carry something in the region of 250.

The IX carrying more provisions for those longer patrols plus the fact the shell sizes were larger dimensionally probably necessitated fewer being carried.....but on some occasions they did and that was the basis for 250 units/rounds being used as the average.

Anyone using the mod is more than welcome to change the figure to whatever they consider more realistic

I wasn't trying to argue. I've just had a lifetime of tabletop gaming with people who will use any tidbit of information to prove that some weird thing they want do do in a game was 'historical'. Thus a Dauntless which had either one .50 cal or two .30 cal tail stinger suddenly has two .50 cals. Or the fact that one RAF squadron was supplied with the experimental Spitfire Ib, which had cannons (which jammed alot - they hadn't got it right yet) means that all Spit Is should have them.

My only point is that just because it can be shown that one person did something doesn't mean that everybody did it.

Still agreeing and certainly not arguing with you ya bugga but I had to come to a compromise figure prior to release of said mod....the only alternative would be to release a few hundred variants in increments of ten rounds or so apiece

Sailor! About 10,5cm/45 gun, from info: www.uboat.net, but in the game you have 10,5cm/32 gun are the difference immense? Or can you upgrade to late version...

As I known are the deckgun for IXC (boat I use for a example) fitted with 10.5cm/32 and not the other version 10.5cm/45,so the question are the main difference, between the 2 version, are 10,5cm/32 more disadvantageous instead for 10.5cm/45...thats all....

The 32 refers to the mounting, not the gun itself. The 10.5cm guns in WW2 were all /45 cal.
