Default CTD on start after monitor change

Hi all!

Recently I've bought Samsung 37" LCD TV Full HD LE37B530 (replacing my 24" LCD monitor). Everything seems to be ok, all games and programs run well, SHIII does't. It just close to desktop. Resolution change in main.ini did not help. I think it is refresh rate/resolution related problem but refresh lockers (all set to 60Hz) didn't help at all. Any idea??? What is resolution/referesh rate of menu screen?

Bart.

What OS and desktop resolution are you runing? May seem like odd questions but can make all the diferance if you are runing windows 7 and at a resolution higher than 1024x768.

Dissaray is correct. I have to run the game at 1064x768 at 59Hz or I get all sorts of bizarre results. (I have windows7, 64 bit.) I cannot run the resolution fix either.

CTD on Vista 64bit and XP 64bit as well. With GWX and on vanilla SHIII. XP: close to desktop without any error message, Vista: "... has stopped running". Strange... And so far only SHIII is affected.

Did you just switch to Vista? I never used that OS, jumped strait from XP to 7 my slef, but I have heard that if you instal the game to the programs(x86) folder, or something like that, on eather 7 or Vista the game will not work at all properly.

If you are runing it on XP it should work fine on just about any desktop res, as far as I konw. Why it dose work this way I have no idea, I suspect it is some kind of magic.

It may be a driver problem. If you installed the monitor and used the "plug and play" method of letting Windows install a generic monitor driver, you will suffer loss at higher resolution. Either install the driver that came with your new monitor or, better yet, go to the manufacturer's web site and download the most current drivers. Additionally, drivers meant to be used on Windows versions earlier than Windows 7 may not function under the new OS. Again, go to the manufacturer's site and make sure to download the drivers specifically for Windows 7. I have cured many high-res monitor problems merely by ditching the "plug and play" drivers and using the maker's version.

Also, you may want to update your graphics adapter drivers at the same time, making sure that you are using the Windows 7 version. Good luck on your efforts.

i don't have all those problems. my problem is even if i go into data then cfg file and find the "main" file and modify the res in there it still keeps the same res. all my drivers are up to date and they are not windows plug and play. when i had vista on a diffrent computer but same video card it worked just fine.
