Adding pictures to a thread....please advise

I view members threads and enjoy the pictures they have posted. I want to do the same. I was told to upload pictures to a hosting site. Today I uploaded for the first time files to my premium Rapidshare account for this purpose. When I start a thread I have the option of "ATTACH", and it asks for the URL/HTTP link. If I paste the link in there will the pictures be viewable to others reading the thread, or will it simply show the download link for them to go download. If that is the case I can add links in a thread anytime for people to download. I hope I answered my own question, as you do not want to be bothered with meaningless threads untill I figure it out myself, as that would be irritating and a waste of this sites resources. This is a great site and keep up the good work.

I have been here only a short time. This is the first time I EVER played a video game. I love it, and have spent a hundred hours in the last two weeks learning this stuff by reading here and trying different stuff to get tuned in, and I about got it ready, as I have been following Mr. DUCIMUS and think I will settle for "TMO/WTW a start. I am an old Navy guy "DD service" 1967-1971 and chose this game to see how things work below the surface.

I am retired and this site has given me a new lease on life and a new outlook as I deal with cancer, 3 ops, and starting chemo on the 14th. I feel young again and enthusiastic again and this diversion is beneficial.
Thanks for reading, and please advise..........Doug in Seattle.

Try imageshack; you don't even need to have an account if you want to upload pictures. Just browse a file, click on the 'start upload' button and wait a few seconds. You can then copy the link it gives you ("direct link to image") into Subsim's "Insert Image" dialog box.

Hope that helps

Hi Doug, I hope all goes well with chemo and you are able to kick the big C in the butt!!
If you want to join a good image site for posting without the hassles I recommend Photobucket: http://s66.photobucket.com been with them for years! Once you join (free) just press the "Upload Images" button and select your pics, once done press "return to album", then point mouse on image, select the last line (IMG Code) shown, this copies the link, then paste into forum post!
Done!!

That's what I use. Just upload, then copy, paste!

Got it working

I opened up photobucket account and tried from there and it worked. Thanks to all that helped on this major endeavor, and especially to "REECE" who spent hours in PM mentoring me. Now you can understand the other thread I posted in the mods workshop requesting "supercompressed DOS format file" of sh1.4 w/ Trigger Maru so it can play on my computer. "DUCIMUS" has his work cut out for him this week, and I only ask for the starter edition with training wheels.........Doug

Photo Credit: "CAROTIO", http://carotio.awardspace.com/ . I visited his site and cracked up when I saw this, and had to "borrow" it.

Hehe and we had the fricking tape/cassette version of it. First I had check the position I have to rewind the tape to for certain game from a thick booklet we used to mark the spots to, then I had to start adjusting the player like one would adjust VCR for better picture. Good times.

God, yes, although we mostly had whole cassettes so finding the start wasn't too difficult. Then you got the multi-coloured loading screens and if you didn't have a fit whilst waiting the 10-15 minutes to load, and if it didn't part-way through decide that it didn't want to play, then man, the fun began Then the NES came out and the console era took off.
