Default University of Washington: Dangerous place, students take up arms

Student Vigilante Group Armed With Guns Searching For Bad Guys Near UW Campus

This won't end well.

The police disapprove but they don't do enough to lure and catch these robbers.

If your next mugging victim might have a gun, it makes sense to shoot first.

The issue here isn't that they are now armed - which is their legal right.

The problem is they have no legal authority to go looking for trouble, and in fact, the reality that they are armed puts a greater responsibility upon them to NOT seek out confrontations, since they should be more aware than an unarmed person would be about how the situation can escalate.

If they all were friends, and all happened to decide that as a group or as individuals who were victimized or wanted to prevent being victimized, then more power to them to go through the steps to be legally armed for that purpose.

However, to seek out trouble just because your now armed, is the height of stupidity, and I would go so far as to say that since the one guy admitted he is "fishing" - his actions constitute behavior not in accordance with responsible gun carry laws, and his concealed permit should be revoked.

The right to keep and bear arms is predicated on a sense of responsibility to do so without endangering the general public. This guy could stumble onto a campus couple arguing and react without thought, merely because he is LOOKING to put himself into a confrontation.

In essence - his actions and statements show he is not carrying for defensive purposes.

I second this. I lived in Western Washington for three years while I was in and got my concealed carry permit. Somebody is going to get shot because of these idiots and Washington being the blue state that it is will ban CC permits in a flash. How much do you want to bet that neither one of these two in the story have never used a gun before in their life? Judging from his choice of "carry" location I'd say I'm pretty close if not spot on.

I'm actually in full agreement with you on this. That doesn't happen everyday!

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Sticking a loaded pistol in the waistband? That's really dumb, they make holsters, ya know.

I can see myself carrying if I had to work in an area like this, but I sure wouldn't advertise it. These guys aren't too bright.

Oh, not another one that does that...

Still, on the upside, if it does go off then it's cleaning the gene pool.

One wonders how they managed to get into university in the first place. Ah well just goes to prove the old theory that undergraduate university is the new highschool.
