Default This is going to go bad

Mr. Obama is now putting his 11 y.o. daughter into play politically. Ultimateley, I don't think he will like the results. And I have to say, I don't think it appropriate.

Malia Obama, at right foreground with dark glasses and shorts, daughter of President Barack Obama, photographed in downtown Rome, Wednesday, July 8, 2009.

She wore a grey T-shirt to visit the Colosseum in Rome with mother Michelle and sister Sasha, seven, and then appeared to have whipped it off to reveal a mottled white and grey top bearing the CND logo.

The symbol, designed for the CND in 1958, is now widely used as to signify peace and is also an international sign for anti-war protesters.

Is it he or she as a kid? Let's see what the media make of a peace symbol on the presidential kid. Yeah, I know about the Palin kids and the media, but do you really think this is the same type of show? Or is she just showing her colors? After all, this is not a election campaign now, and you can't dictate to foreign media. What is the photo's origin anyway? Still, I don't see how even the staunchest conservative can make hay out of this and look good. It's a no win either way. Find some dirt like high moral ground and a bastard grandchild and there's substance. Sorry to speak plainly there as you seem to be a Palin supporter and I'm not looking for a fight.

It is the exploitation of a child, by what even Helen Thomas calls a White House (read Barack Obama), which is over controlling of the press, and is illegal in all 50, not 57 states. This was no accident. It is the political equivilant of Michael Jackson hanging his new born child over the balcony.

The gratuitous MJ reference intended.

AS I don't see her chanting "peace" at a media conference, I can hardly see it as her making a political comment. She wore it because she wanted to, not because she was making a political statement. If the media was there would anyone really care what an 11 year old was wearing??? Let her be a kid

MONROE, Michigan (CNN)
"Let me be as clear as possible," Obama said. "I think people's families are off-limits, and people's children are especially off-limits. This shouldn't be part of our politics.

Until their parent, the President of the United Staes, for heaven sakes, drags them into the fray. Like I said exploitation.

Well I think you are using a facts to fit the theory here. I see plenty of kids her age over here wearing clothing with that symbol on and I'm willing to bet that most haven't a clue what it signifies. I'm willing to bet Malia doesn't really know and if she does, she doesn't care. To her the t-shirt is just cool.

Seriously the symbol like many others has been hijacked by the fashion industry. I really think saying that Malia is wearing a CND T-shirt at her fathers behest is taking it a bit far.

Agreed. There's an entire line of clothing that uses this symbol. Besides, the children where put into the fray at the Democratic National Convention when they appeared on stage and addressed their father via a teleconference on the jumbo-tron. The outfit is meaningless.

To paraphrase Dr. Freud, sometimes a shirt is just a shirt.

In a nutshell, yep, she thinks it is cool. Kids for you. But, maybe mom should have thought about this shirt in particular. I would suspect shirts without any pictures, slogons or logos were be more appropriate for the presidentual family. Whether you agree or not, the entire family abroad are embassadors of the US.

Christ on a bicycle, you people are wacky. Go to any mall in America and count the number of kids you see with peace sign necklaces or bracelets or shirts, etc.

Are you really that bitter and petty that you have to latch on to the smallest tidbit of anything to criticize the guy? It takes a mental leap of incredible proportions to say that his daughter was wearing a peace sign on her shirt and therefore he's using her as a pawn in his secret Muslim Kenyan takeover of America.

Good lord. What's next? Calling him out because he smiled while watching fireworks because they remind him of his mujahideen brother's roadside bombs in Iraq?
