Default Okay, only you all could share my happiness

I have been playing SHIII off and on for about 4 years, love all the mods.

However I have NEVER in those Years had my boat in a position to see and attack a Battleship.at sea........................Until today!

Sure I have raided a few ports and sunk a few hoods, essex's but never in a career in the open sea.

Its Sept '40, and while at sea I have been instructed to move from Wilhelmshaven to Lorient, So I thought I'd try to get a few kills while I relocated.

I shot down the Channel hugging the French coast, then thought I should see what the Western Approaches have to offer before I head for our new French home, The weather was lousy for days, and I am just west of the Rockwall bank when I get a message about a large convoy...and I was in perfect position,

I closed in on it, and dead center of the formation is the WARSPITE! I actually closed within 2,500 meters and fired.....

First one hit her, but nothing, I'm still closing and fire again....

This one hits her just aft of center and KABOOM, secondary explosions everywhere, two eels, no more battlewagon.

Also I have hit 2 Whale Factory ships,

Not pushing my luck, time to hide now.

I just HAD TO SHARE, I know its boring for you, but exciting for me!

Good show! I someday hope to run across a Battleship, preferably unprotected and in position to come across my path.

That would be a nice bonus

Although without the guns the tonnage would probably be cut in half... Perhaps one or two guns still onboard...

It's always a great feeling to put a battlewagon down. Congratulations, Herr Kaleun!

Hardly boring. I experienced at least 15 seconds of euphoria just from visualizing the scene. I'm actually amazed that you managed a successful attack after that first hit, usually the battlewagons zoom away if they get hit or sight a torpedo wake. I'm also impressed that you managed a hit from that distance. Crazy luck or crazy skill, it's not boring.

If you're using GMX there's usually something with large guns in any convoy .

Quick Update.......

Thanks for the kind words and support......

Well, I took it down to 100 meters went silent, there were 2 DD's looking but their heart wasn't in it, I mean they tried for awhile, but they had 2 Whale factory ships taking on water fast, a modern tanker on fire dead in the water, and a large merchant with the aft deck awash trying to keep up with the convoy, but it was only managing 1 knot.

Mostly I think they were wondering what they were going to tell their superiors!

I waited an hour, came to scope depth, and there was the tanker, so since I was out of torps and needed to reload, we surfaced and I gunned her down,

We then changed directions to go after the slow moving Merchant, we closed and started to deck gun her, when I hear ship spotted, one of the DD's coming back, someone got a radio message off!

We were surfaced long enough to load the first two torps and with the DD bearing down, and me headed now full speed on the surface at the merchant, I yell crash dive, and fire!

We fire at the merchant, she explodes, and we just clear her keel as we go deep, a hard right to port, and all silent..

The destroyer makes a quick pass, sees there is nothing he can do, and heads back for the convoy.

I wait an hour, surface the boat, radio in our success...68,000 tons from one convoy.

A little something to bring back to our new commander at our new base Lorient!

It was fun
